As the title says – I’m a 27F who was just diagnosed yesterday with obstructive sleep apnea.

The past two years, I’ve periodically (1-2x a week) woken up gasping for air, so I had reason to believe it was a possibility that I have sleep apnea. But now that I’m officially diagnosed via sleep study, I don’t know what to do next. I’ve never been overweight, I’m active, I eat well, I don’t smoke, etc, so I’m a little bummed that I don’t have the risk factors yet I still have sleep apnea. I understand it can simply be due to the physical makeup of my throat muscles etc, as well as potentially genetic (my mom has it).

I’ll be fitted for a CPAP here soon, but for some reason, I feel like my life is going to be…different. I’ll have to travel with my mask and now that I know for sure that I stop breathing during my sleep, it’s scary to think about.

Anyway, just me rambling I guess. But is there anything else I should do now that I have a diagnosis?
