I have an old CPAP I’ve been using for the past few months. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea when I was 18 or 19 and got a machine then but never used it. I took a sleep study at a local hospital and was diagnosed again, and I decided this time to actually tackle my problem. However my health insurance refuses to pay for medical devices and thats why I’ve been using this old one from 2011 or 2012.

At times I feel great with 8 hours of sleep. Other times I feel terrible. This morning I saw that the pressure was sitting at 11.6 when I woke up (its NEVER jumped this high) and the throbbing headaches I’ve had today I can just tell are from a lack of oxygen from OSA from the previous night.

Anyone else have experience with an older machine? Is it safe to say that this machine is old and possibly not working? Do these machines have a lifetime? PS its so old that I cannot get a reading for the number of apnea and hypopnea’s I’ve had.

In any case I was so miserable today I bit the financial bullet and just purchased a new CPAP for full price.. I’m hoping there will be an improvement when it comes.
