I was diagnosed as half and half obstructive / central apnea during my sleep study a few weeks ago, total ahi was 22 at the time of the study. Also, I was told to get a brain MRI because central apnea for someone my age (29) is apparently not common and they want to rule out any brain issues which would be causing the central episodes. Is a brain MRI really a standard procedure after a central apnea diagnosis?

Also one other question,

I’ll sometimes wear my mask for maybe an hour before bed to help me get settled in before sleeping, and I’ve noticed within that hour my ahi can register around 6-12. Should that be concerning? Does that mean that I’m not breathing while I’m awake?

All ideas, suggestions, and help is absolutely welcome.
