Last night was my third night with my CPAP machine and it went off without a hitch! I put the machine on and was asleep in probably 10 minutes. Woke up a couple times to roll over but didn’t get up to use the washroom which was previously a nightly occurrence for me. The alarm went off at 7 and I hopped up out of bed, ready to start my day! Just a few days ago without my machine, I would be snoozing the alarm, dozing and barely being able to keep my eyes open. I would force myself out of bed after 20 minutes, drag myself downstairs and tell my boyfriend how exhausted I was after 8 hours of sleep.
Last night I achieved a score of 100 on MyAir! 8 usage hours, 20/20 mask seal, 0 events per hour, 1 mask on/off. My head is so much clearer. I used to be in a state of constant fog, confusion, and exhaustion. Putting together a huge order for work is no longer daunting, I can keep track of what I’m doing and notice small details. I’m just in a great mood overall after starting treatment. I was so worried it would take weeks of different masks and settings, and I would take forever to get used to it.
It’s been 3 days and CPAP is already changing me. If you are reading this and wondering if you have sleep apnea, go get a sleep study done. Treatment will change your life. I wish I didn’t spend so many years in denial about having it, not wanting to use a CPAP, and thinking it wasn’t a big deal. It’s not normal to be tired all the time!
