I saw an ENT to see if I had any structural issues that might point to UARS or other sleep issues. He didn’t want to order a CT or scope my nose because I had post-nasal drip and thought that might be my problem. The visit took all of ten minutes.

I asked him about sleep apnea and he says that a diagnosis can make it difficult to get life or health insurance. So he doesn’t order them for his younger patients or refer them to sleep specialists. I found that…off-putting? Why should someone suffer if they believe they have sleep apnea? He didn’t offer any proposed solutions for those patients either.

I’ll never see him again. This was at the Cleveland Clinic too. I’m thinking being world renowned doesn’t really apply to all specialties. Has anyone encountered doctors like this before? Sleep apnea is dangerous!
