Sleep apnea runs in my family. So far as I know my father has it, my grandmother has it, and I believe I have it now. For almost 2 years I’ve noticed that when I lay on my back and fall asleep I usually wake up with a sleep paralysis like feeling where I can’t move, and I can’t open my eyes but I’m very well aware of my own heart beat. But, it’s not beating fast it’s beating slow and it’s weird because my mind is functioning completely fine I can think clearly, and I know something is wrong. Typically when I “awake” from this state I gasp for air and my heart starts racing. I’m not sure if this is sleep apnea or not, I’ve never quite understood sleep apnea and was wondering if anybody here had an idea of what this could be.
