It’s been about a month and a half of CPAP therapy for me, and I certainly see an interesting change in my ability to process information, hold information (like when I’m reading I don’t forget the line I just read), plan and organize. I’ve never, ever had skills in these areas and have developed a ton of compensatory strategies over my life that I see I don’t need to use so much anymore. I’ve also noticed a real sense of calm and peace in my way of being. I don’t feel like I’m in some sort of emotional “emergency mode” anymore.
I read a few articles referring to this about how CPAP restores brain tissue in sleep apnea patients over the course of three months. Does anyone have any links to other studies like this? I’d love to read more about how CPAP actually physically affects the brain and the behavioral results of these effects.
