Hey all,

I’ve been using a CPAP ResMed AirSense 10 Auto now for exactly 2 weeks and pressures set from 4-12.

A blood tested indicated an elevated red blood cell count and they wanted a sleep study done. Took a WatchPat home sleep study from my medical provider (no chest strap or anything, just wrist and finger) and took a CPAP machine home that day — bit of a catch is I was super anxious when using the WatchPat and couldn’t sleep at all so I took melatonin around midnight and slept a few hours. I was diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea about 15 days ago.

I’ve been using the CPAP machine the whole last two weeks and I’ve honestly never had worse sleep in my life. I’m not overweight, I am physically fit, I don’t snore, and I usually feel very well rested and exercise and cycle 1-2 hours 5-6 days a week before all of this. Almost never got any headaches or anything like drowsiness.

Now after 14 days of CPAP I’m just pretty consistently tired and low energy with low-grade headaches randomly. Have any of you experienced this? I’m not sure what’s going on. My average pressure over the last 2 weeks has been 4.76 and a 95% pressure of 5.56 with an average number of AHIs of 0.26, all of which were hypopneas, a handful of clear airways, and one occurrence of RERA.

Additional info is I was also recently diagnosed with hypertension and am newly on amlodipine, also had some chest pains and am being treated with the assumption from specialists that I have some acid reflux issues and am on proton pump inhibitors.

Any similar stories? Ideas as to sleepiness/headaches now and not before CPAP? Do I actually have sleep apnea?
