Hello, I am an 18 year old male at university,

I also have a Garmin Vivoactive 4s watch which has a blood oxygen reader.

I’ve been noticing some nights my blood oxygen gets quite low (70 something low and and average in the 80s). I’ve noticed that I sleep badly on my back and that the readings get lower when I do so.

Last night, I was sleeping and started having a terrifying nightmare in which I was feeling really weird and bad, in the dream. I realised I was sleeping and trying to wake up and then I started chocking and woke up feeling very dizzy and out of breath and it felt like my throat was all closed up until I was able to move. It was very unpleasant. Unfortunately my watch was charging so I didn’t see the readings for last night as it would have been interesting to see what my oxygen was like at that moment.

My readings aren’t that low every night but it sometimes happens.

Here are some examples:

  1. 89% average / 82% lowest

2)92% average / 77% lowest (two sharp drops below 80)

3)89% average / 80% lowest (one sharp drop to 80)

Are these readings that could indicate some form of sleep apnea? Thank you
