I’ve been sleeping next to this person for 2 years and I think there’s something seriously wrong with his sleeping patterns / quality of sleep.

  1. His snoring is terrible and he occasionally makes a choking noise that scares the living crap out of me.

  2. He rarely ever sleeps completely flat. On his back, he’ll press up his neck and head against our headboard. On his stomach, he sleeps with his head propped up on a pillow so it’s perpendicular to his body.

  3. Sometimes he’ll sit up in the middle of his sleep. Not for long, maybe ten minutes.

  4. If you let him, he will sleep close to 20 hours, wake up, and then sleep some more. No matter how much (or little) he sleeps, he’s still the same amount of tired.

I’ve never seen anyone sleep like this and it always alarms me. He’s said that he’s always had those habits and don’t think they affect him negatively, but I wonder if he should go to a sleep specialist just in case? Am I overreacting?
