I bought my own CPAP due to COVID (resmed autoset 9 “for her” aka pink version lmao) and set it for APAP at 7-17 (anything below 7 felt like I was suffocating) and I managed to actually fall aslee for 6 hours with it finally. My home sleep study told me I had an AHI of 30 with central sleep apnea and the resmed results told me that my AHI was .8 which is a great improvement!
The issue is that, aside from waking up feeling not nearly as awful as I’d normally feel with 12 hours of sleep which is amazing, I still didn’t wake up not feeling tired anymore and went back to bed for another 2 hours. I’m not 100% sure what the effects of cpap are supposed to be but I was expecting it to be a lot more dramatic so to speak (after reading reports of people feeling so different they cried)
I did notice today I’ve had slightly better concentration and clear headedness but nothing to write home about. Should I just keep at it and keep trying to hone in my exact pressure settings? It definitely helps and I’ll keep wearing it but I want to get to the point where I’m not waking up more tired than when I went to bed. I’m not feeling like a truck hit me anymore which is astounding and the headache was gone but I’m still very sleepy in the morning. Maybe I set unrealistic expectations for myself? I’m also thinking I might just have a ton of sleep debt to catch up on (I was born with a fairly recessed chin and just got back down to 170 after being 250+ for a few years so I’ve had apnea almost my entire life)
Any comments or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
