Hi everyone. This morning I woke up and saw some pink mildewy gunky looking stuff in the bottom corner of my reservoir tank/water chamber (heated humidifier). Does anyone know how this happens? I clean my tubing, mask, elbow, and reservoir/chamber weekly. I fill the sink with warm/hot (tap) water with some Dawn dish soap and let the stuff soak for 15-20 minutes and then I rinse it off. This is what my DME said to do, and I believe is similar to the instructions in the actual manuals that come with the CPAP supplies. A few times throughout the week I empty my reservoir tank and rinse it out in the sink. I also only use distilled water in the chamber.
What am I doing wrong? I don’t understand. This particular reservoir I have is only 1 month old and is basically brand new (this has happened to me once before after using the same chamber/humidifier and it was after 6 months so I figured it was just time to replace it). But this one is only a month old. I have a Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset with the heated humidifier, and this is the chamber I’m using. I genuinely don’t understand. Since the particular chamber I have is dishwasher safe, maybe I will try cleaning it there instead of in the sink with the rest of the stuff. But still, this shouldn’t be happening, right? I was going to attach a picture of the pink mildewy stuff but it looks like images aren’t allowed. Any help would be much appreciated!!
